Hamilton YMCA – One Step Program
The New Jersey Metro Chapter of the National Multiple
Sclerosis Society and the Hamilton YMCA are proud to announce a collaborative
effort in developing a customized wellness program for individuals with
multiple sclerosis. The One Step program is a 12-week, 24-session course
designed for medically diagnosed adults with MS. One Step aims to provide
attendees with a comfortable and accessible environment to encourage
empowerment via facilitated conversations, and, through therapeutic exercises,
address the issues of fatigue, mobility, weakness and depression. Registration for One Step begins
on March 2nd, and the program starts on March 16th.
Classes will meet Monday and Wednesday morning at 10am, or Tuesday and Thursday
evening at 6:30pm. For more details or to register for this program, please

falling and provide ways to improve your safety at home and in the community.
This program will assist you in making good judgment calls to prevent you
from falling and help you stay vertical.

Holy Name Orthotic
Clinic
The physical therapy department of Holy Name Medical Center offers
an orthotic clinic for anyone needing to get an ankle foot orthotic or other
prescribed brace; patients will be evaluated by physical and occupational
therapists; orthotic vendors will be present. The clinic is held on the
second Wednesday of each month. To make an appointment or to get more

NEW groups are now forming at Overlook Hospital in Summit, at the
library in Middletown and at the Holy Name Fitness Center in Oradell.
A group for veterans with MS meets at the VA in East Orange on the
4th Tuesday of every month.

Care Partner Support
Group
Connect with other care partners, find support and share your
experiences. This National MS Society support group is led by experienced
volunteers who are here to help you navigate life as a care partner of a person

Coaching for Emerging Artists
Arts Unbound is excited to announce it has received a grant from
the Kessler Foundation to provide professional development support to fifteen to
twenty artists with disabilities over the next year (October 2014-September
2015).
Arts Unbound is actively recruiting new emerging artists with
disabilities for the program. All the participants will be expected to commit
to developing a career plan, participate in workshops and master classes, and
learn how to approach galleries and retailers. Staff will conduct portfolio
reviews, promote the participants’ work to galleries, boutiques, and other
retailers, license works for reproduction, help artists build online
portfolios, and host group art exhibits.

you think represents your strongest efforts. Please also share a little about
yourself and your artistic goals for the next year.

Exciting News! On April 19th Toufayan Bakery will make a
GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS® official attempt
for the Largest Display of Sandwich Wraps at the Walk MS event at Ridgefield
Park. In collaboration with volunteers from the National MS Society, Toufayan
will use its line of wheat, whole wheat, flavored, and gluten-free wraps to
wrap up a record, building more than 600 unique sandwich creations! It’ll be a
sight to see – don’t miss it!
Bike to Create a World
Free of MS!
Bike MS has something for
everyone… Don’t miss the chance to be a part of the national Bike MS
cycling series. We offer both active and virtual participation so that chapter
members can participate, inspire and encourage friends and family to join in
one or all of our Bike MS events, whether they pedal the route or not!
- Bike MS: Coast the Coast, May 16 & 17. Our
premier cycling event offers ride lengths of 25, 50, 85 and the two-day
170-mile route along the Jersey Shore from West Long Branch to Cape May.
- Bike MS: Barrels and Brews (formerly Bike MS: Hops to Hops), on
September 13 in Ringoes. Choose your route length of 40 or 62 miles and pedal over
the hills of the Amwell Valley. Celebrate at the Unionville Vineyard with a
relaxing lunch, wine and beer.
- Bike MS: Country Challenge on September 19 & 20 from
Morristown to Whippany and back. Route options offered are the
25, 50, 62 and the two-day 100-mile ride. Enjoy the Saturday finish line
featuring Oktoberfest food and entertainment!
